Once again, over half the attorneys at Block O’Toole & Murphy have been selected to the prestigious Super Lawyers list. Super Lawyers, which uses a patented selection process to determine lawyers in the top 5% of their practice area in each state, assesses candidates against 12 indicators of professional competence and peer recognition. Indicators include verdicts and settlements achieved, awards and honors, scholarly writings or lectures, and more.

This year, ten attorneys from the law firm have been included in the 2017 Super Lawyers list. The honorees are:

The list includes the firm’s six partners, three of their associates, and an of counsel attorney. This is the tenth year that both Jeffrey Block and Daniel O’Toole have been recognized by Super Lawyers.

“Needless to say, the dedication and skill of our top notch attorneys have enabled us to provide some of the best legal representation to personal injury victims in New York. Our results speak for themselves,” said Partner Jeffrey Block.

Since 2012, Block O’Toole & Murphy has attained more $1,000,000+ results than any other law firm in New York State. The firm is responsible for record-breaking verdicts of $32 million (largest personal injury verdict in Long Island) and $20 million (second-largest pain and suffering recovery in the court of claims).

In 2016, the law firm attained 4 of the Top 5 Settlements in all of New York State. The lawyers recovered well over $100,000,000 in verdicts and settlements in 2016 alone, and the team continues to achieve top verdicts and settlements this calendar year as well. 2017 results include a record-breaking $13,500,000 settlement, the largest personal injury amount in the history of Suffolk County, New York.

“The fact that over half our attorneys are on the Super Lawyers list is a great honor,” said Partner Daniel O’Toole. “It’s incredibly important to us that we recruit top performers who share our mission of service to others. Each and every attorney at our firm is selected based on their talent, work ethic, and – of course – moral standing.”

One of the firm’s missions includes a commitment to service. Block O’Toole Murphy continues its annual sponsorship of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with the annual autumn wine tasting on October 12, 2017. The attorneys have raised more than $3 million for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Frances Pope Memorial Foundation, and Candlelighters NYC. Additionally, the firm believes firmly in aiding disaster relief efforts. Their most recent project involves an organized drive to provide essential supplies to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico.

The attorneys value the same dedication and effort to their clients.

“We work with clients who suffered serious injuries because of another party’s negligence,” said Partner Stephen Murphy. “Traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, nerve damage….when we take a case, we’re making a promise to the client that we will work tirelessly to give them maximum compensation they are entitled to under the law. This commitment is what truly defines us as a firm.”
