Teen's Hit-and-Run Accident Injures Father and Daughter

A teenager from New York has been charged with multiple violations after his involvement in an accident that injured a father and his 9-month-old daughter. According to WKTV, 17-year-old Dustin A. Becraft ran a stop sign in Vienna and crashed into the driver’s side of a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Jason Spellicy. It is alleged that immediately after the accident, Becraft spun the tires in his pickup truck and fled the scene. Spellicy and his infant daughter Stella were taken to Rome Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Crane Collapse that Kills One, Seriously Injures Another Under Investigation

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), Department of Buildings, and the NYPD are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collapse of a crane in Manhattan that killed one construction worker and seriously injured another. According to ABC News, a crane collapsed in a pit on the West Side where the No. 7 subway line is being extended behind Times Square. Allegedly, the crane's boom gave way and crashed onto the construction site, killing 30-year-old Michael Simermeyer and injuring four others, one seriously.

Construction Worker Falls from Throgs Neck Bridge

Emergency crews including police marine units, fire, Coast Guard, and helicopters had to be called on after a construction worker fell into the water from the Throgs Neck Bridge. According to NBC New York, the worker was apparently changing his harness when the platform he was on gave way, causing him to fall around 140 feet into the water. Hours after the fall, the worker still had not been found. A sweater and a hard hat were found floating in the water.
