Plaintiff was a 53-year-old union carpenter at the time of the accident.

DESCRIPTION OF CASE

The accident occurred at One Beekman Place in Manhattan. At the time of the accident, Plaintiff was standing on a pipe scaffold attempting to plate a large metal frame on top of a Con Edison vault. There were no safety railings on the scaffold and the weight of the cover caused Plaintiff to fall off of the platform approximately 15 feet to the concrete floor of the vault.

DAMAGES

As a result of the accident, Plaintiff suffered multiple leg fractures that required implantation of metal plates and screws and ultimately a total knee replacement.

SETTLEMENT

The parties reached a negotiated settlement of $3,400,000
