$1,300,000 for Passenger in Queens Car Crash

CASE SUMMARY

This case involved a motor vehicle accident that occurred at 5:15 am at the intersection of 115th Avenue and 140th Street, Queens, New York. Our client was a passenger in his friend's vehicle, which was travelling straight on 115th Avenue without any traffic controls when, without warning, they were struck on the passenger side by the defendant, who had a stop sign and failed to yield the right-of-way.

INJURIES/DAMAGES

Our client sustained lumbar herniations at L4-L5 requiring a lumbar laminectomy and diskectomy at those segments. He also underwent treatment for knee injuries that required arthroscopic surgery. He did not file a lost earnings claim, but made claims for past and future medical expenses, as well as pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life.

RESULT

The parties negotiated a $1,300,000 pretrial settlement.
